Namibia
Discover Namibia's dramatic dunes, wildlife-rich Etosha and rugged Skeleton Coast on this small-group safari.
Namibia is a land of striking contrasts, and this small-group, set-departure tour is designed to showcase the very best of it. The journey begins with wildlife-rich game drives through Etosha National Park, one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries, before heading west into the dramatic, mountainous landscapes of Damaraland, where encounters with the Himba, Herero and Damara peoples offer a genuine glimpse into Namibia's rich cultural heritage. As the route continues, travellers will stand in awe beneath Brandberg, Namibia's highest mountain, before reaching the hauntingly beautiful Skeleton Coast, where shipwrecks lie scattered along a wild Atlantic shoreline. The coastal town of Swakopmund, with its blend of colonial architecture and desert-meets-ocean scenery, provides a fascinating stop before the tour turns inland once more. The adventure culminates among the towering sand dunes of Sossusvlei, set within the world's oldest desert, where sunrise and sunset transform the landscape into a canvas of glowing orange and deep shadow. A visit to the eerie, dead-tree-studded Deadvlei and the ancient Sesriem Canyon rounds off an itinerary that combines wildlife, culture, geology and utterly unique scenery. Guided throughout by an English-speaking tour guide and travelling in a specially equipped safari vehicle, this is an immersive, small-group way to experience Namibia's highlights in comfort and depth.
On arrival in Windhoek, you are met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is at your own leisure to relax, explore the city independently, or join an optional city tour if time permits.
After a morning collection in Windhoek and a pre-departure meeting, you travel north through Otjiwarongo. You enter Etosha National Park for a game drive, stopping at various waterholes to view the diverse wildlife. The day concludes at your camp, where you may visit the popular waterhole to watch for elephants and black rhinos.
Departing at sunrise, you spend the full day exploring the park and its various waterholes. You stop to view the vast Etosha Pan, a mineral-rich landscape visible from space. The day features extensive game viewing opportunities as you traverse the reserve, exiting at the Anderson gate before heading to your accommodation.
Travel the scenic route to the Atlantic coast via Damaraland, passing mountains and granite koppies. You stop for a picnic lunch under the shadow of Brandberg mountain and view the Zeila shipwreck near Henties Bay. The journey ends in the coastal town of Swakopmund, which is renowned for its unique German colonial architecture.
Enjoy a morning in Swakopmund with the option to go quad biking or sand boarding. You then head into the desert, traversing the Kuiseb and Gaub mountain passes and stopping at the Tropic of Capricorn signpost. The journey continues through the desert landscape to Solitaire, famous for its apple pie.
Departing before dawn, you enter the dune area at sunrise. You transfer by 4x4 shuttle to visit Deadvlei and climb the towering dunes. The day includes a stop at the iconic Dune 45 and an excursion to Sesriem Canyon, carved by the Tsauchab River, before returning to your accommodation in the late afternoon.
Stop in Solitaire for apple pie before driving back through the mountain scenery of the central plateau, passing through Büellsport and Rehoboth. You arrive in Windhoek by mid-afternoon where you are dropped off at your accommodation.
Enjoy a final leisurely morning in Windhoek to relax or browse local shops. You are then transferred to the airport in good time for your departure flight home.
