India
Discover Rajasthan's royal forts, tiger safaris and desert sunsets on a colourful journey through India's most dramatic region.
Rajasthan is colourful, dramatic, and deeply rooted in history. Forts and palaces dominate the landscape, telling stories of royal dynasties and desert kingdoms that once ruled this vast region. This Classic Rajasthan Tour brings that history to life, taking travellers from the marble splendour of the Taj Mahal at sunrise through to the wildlife-rich trails of Ranthambore National Park, where three tiger safaris offer the chance to spot India's most iconic predator in its natural habitat. Cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur each have their own character, from the bustling bazaars and Amber Fort of the Pink City to the imposing Mehrangarh Fort standing guard over Jodhpur, and the tranquil lakes and palaces of romantic Udaipur. An overnight train journey and a camel ride into the Thar Desert near Jaisalmer add texture and adventure to the itinerary, while a boat ride on Lake Pichola offers a quieter, more reflective side to the experience. Beyond the landmarks, Rajasthan is about culture, crafts, music, and bold local flavours. Camel rides, desert sunsets, and heritage hotels turn a visit into a full experience rather than just sightseeing. With guided sightseeing, private transport, and entrance fees included throughout, this journey is designed for travellers who want culture, contrast, and a strong sense of place — a complete Rajasthan experience blending wildlife, heritage, and scenery in one seamless trip.
On arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, meet your representative in the arrivals lounge. You are then transferred by private car to your hotel to check in and relax after your journey.
Travel by road to Agra and settle into your hotel. In the afternoon, discover the grand Mughal architecture of the Red Fort and Itmad-ud-Daulah, affectionately known as the Baby Taj. End the day watching the sunset over the Taj Mahal across the river Yamuna from Mehtab Bagh.
Experience the peaceful beauty of the Taj Mahal at sunrise before returning for breakfast. En route to Ranthambore, stop to explore the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri and the Tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti. Continue to Sawai Madhopur, home of the celebrated Bengal tiger, and check into your hotel.
Head into Ranthambore National Park at dawn on a shared jeep safari along your first trail in search of native wildlife. Following breakfast and leisure time back at your resort, set out on a second afternoon game drive. Return in the evening to relax or explore the immediate surroundings.
Embark on an early morning shared jeep safari along a third wilderness trail in Ranthambore. After breakfast, journey by road towards Jaipur, Rajasthan's historic Pink City. Check into your hotel upon arrival and spend the rest of the day relaxing at your leisure.
Begin the day with photo stops at the Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal before heading up to the Amber Fort by jeep, with the option to ascend by elephant. Step inside to discover the Palace of Mirrors and manicured courtyards. Later, tour the City Palace and the historic astronomical observatory of Jantar Mantar.
Enjoy a leisurely morning before setting out with your private car to browse the vibrant Tripolia and Chandpole bazaars and see the Raj Mandir Cinema. In the evening, witness the prayer ceremony at Birla Temple or shop for local handicrafts. Later, transfer to the railway station for your overnight train to Jaisalmer.
Arrive in Jaisalmer and transfer to your hotel before exploring the living fort, its Jain temples, and ornate havelis including Patwon-ki-Haveli. Drive past Gadisar Lake and Badal Vilas before heading to the Sam Sand Dunes. Here, take a sunset camel trek across the desert sands followed by high tea.
Depart Jaisalmer after breakfast and drive to Jodhpur, famously known as India's Blue City. After checking in, discover the intricate marble cenotaph of Jaswant Thada, built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Conclude the day wandering through the lively bazaars surrounding the iconic Clock Tower before returning to your hotel.
Spend a full day uncovering the architectural treasures of Jodhpur. Explore the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, perched atop a sheer cliff, followed by the grand Umaid Bhawan Palace and its manicured gardens. Later, visit Mandore, the ancient capital, to admire its historic gardens and unique temple-style royal cenotaphs.
Travel into the Aravalli Range towards Mount Abu, Rajasthan's sole hill station. En route, explore the magnificent 15th-century Ranakpur Jain Temples with an audio guide, admiring their vast pillared halls. After arriving and checking in, enjoy a tranquil evening stroll and an optional boat ride across scenic Nakki Lake.
Begin with a visit to Mount Abu's renowned Dilwara Jain Temples, famous for their extraordinary marble carvings. Continue to the historic Achalgarh Fort to take in sweeping views and visit the ancient Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple. Afterwards, journey south to Udaipur and check into your hotel for a relaxing evening.
Discover Udaipur on an extensive sightseeing tour, starting at the grand City Palace complex overlooking Lake Pichola. Visit the ornamental fountains of Saheliyon-ki-Bari and the intricately sculpted Jagat Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ambika. In the evening, unwind with a scenic boat cruise across the waters of Lake Pichola.
After breakfast, transfer to Udaipur airport for your domestic flight to vibrant Mumbai. Upon arrival, a private transfer takes you directly to your hotel. Settle into your room and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to relax or explore the surrounding neighbourhood.
Board a scenic ferry across Mumbai Harbour, weather permitting, to discover the rock-cut cave temples of Elephanta Island. Return to the city for an afternoon tour featuring Victoria Terminus, the open-air laundry at Dhobi Ghat, Chowpatty Beach, the Parsi Towers of Silence, and Mahatma Gandhi's former residence at Mani Bhavan.
Enjoy a day entirely at your own pace in Mumbai with a private vehicle and driver at your disposal. Whether you wish to browse bustling street markets, visit world-class galleries, or sample celebrated regional cuisine, the city is yours to experience at your leisure.
After breakfast, you meet your driver for a private transfer to Mumbai airport. From here, you board your scheduled return flight back to London, bringing your journey through India to a close.
